I wrote "This Town is Gonna Burn" while I was working a job that had me commuting downtown on a daily basis. Every day I walked by a homeless man who camped in the same bus stop night after night. He appeared to be blind and in pretty rough shape and he wore winter clothes all year long. I would try to give him some cash when I had it, but I was always perplexed by the lack of empathy shown by everyone around me who also passed this man every day. "The measure of a society is found in how they treat their weakest and most helpless citizens," said Jimmy Carter. I think we need to make sure we help these folks out to maintain our own humanity.
